About the Course
In 1987, His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche gave Dzogchen teachings in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This online course features nearly five hours of footage of the events. It shows part of Khyentse Rinpoche’s lectures, translations by Pema Wangyal Rinpoche, as well as His Holiness’ final address and blessing line after bestowing Vajrakilaya Abhisheka (not included).
The videos are rather atmospheric. While they don't offer the teachings in full, watching them is like bathing in the warm glow of Rinpoche’s presence. They are important historical documents for the Shambhala sangha and illustrate the origin of the book Primordial Purity: Oral Instructions on the Three Words That Strike the Vital Point (Shambhala Publications, 2016), that is based on this program in Halifax.
There is no study guide included with the videos, but you may be inspired to study the book, which is a complete and thorough translation of these teachings.
Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche has kindly given permission for the use of these videos through the Dilgo Khyentse Fellowship/Shechen and the Shambhala Archives.
Prerequisites: Vajrayana Transmission (Kagyu, Nyingma and Shambhala Vajrayana students welcome)
About the Teacher
Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910–1991) was a highly accomplished meditation master, scholar, and poet, and a principal holder of the Nyingma lineage. His extraordinary depth of realization enabled him to be, for all who met him, a foundation of loving-kindness, wisdom, and compassion. A dedicated exponent of the nonsectarian Rime movement, Khyentse Rinpoche was respected by all schools of Tibetan Buddhism and taught many eminent teachers, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He was also one of the main teachers of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He tirelessly worked to uphold the Dharma through the publication of texts, the building of monasteries and stupas, and by offering instruction to thousands of people throughout the world. His writings in Tibetan fill twenty-five volumes.
Vajrayana students who are not members of Shambhala, and who have received transmission, can register by sending a request and letter of confirmation of their status to Julia Persch at [email protected].
