Chöd is a unique offering practice founded by Machik Lapdron in 11th century Tibet. Machik Lapdron realized Emptiness and Bodhicitta and her instructions arise from that realization. As Chöd practices pervaded Tibet they were included in all of the various schools and lineages. All are fascinated with the melodious chanting and rhythmic drumming, but the heart beat of the practice is ‘severance’ or ‘cutting’. Cutting through Ego-grasping and fixation leading to freedom.
This course is following the instructions as presented by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamsto Rinpoche. We use the English translation of the daily Chöd practice text by Wangchuk Dorje with part of the commentary from Jamgon Kongtrul as translated by Elizabeth Callahan. Tibetan melodies have been adapted to the english by Jean Thies and Ellen Green, transcribed by Basia Solarz.
This course provides recorded talks, instructions and guidance for ‘Offering one’s body, the daily practice of Chöd’, the music and the permission lung for the practice. An online discussion forum for asking questions and sharing resources. As always for key instructions of the view please look to your guru.
